Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS, Earth Sciences, GIS, or related field.
• 2–5 years in scientific programming, software engineering, or data engineering.
• Hands-on AWS cloud experience to host and distribute large datasets.
• Strong GIS data skills with raster (NetCDF/HDF/GeoTIFF) and vector (Shapefile).

Responsibilities

• Migrate datasets to cloud-native delivery systems for CoastWatch.
• Design and build robust data access APIs for filtering/subsetting.
• Handle geospatial data in NetCDF, HDF, GeoTIFF and vector formats.
• Collaborate with NOAA/NESDIS/PolarWatch and CoastWatch teams to align solutions.
