Job summary

IPinfo in the United States is seeking a Data Engineer to join a small, high-leverage team responsible for the data behind our location and context products. You’ll own end-to-end pipelines, tackling messy inputs and ambiguous problems, and ensuring quality across every line you ship.

You will maintain BigQuery data pipelines, work with geospatial data, and occasionally build web dashboards to provide visibility for data engineers and others in the company.

Qualifications

• Advanced SQL with window functions, CTEs, and performance tuning; BigQuery is a strong plus.
• Strong communication skills for documenting and sharing complex pipelines.
• Track record turning messy, ambiguous data into reliable signals with sound judgment.
• Extensive experience as a data scientist or engineer with public repos or strong references.
• Clean-code discipline: tests, code reviews, readable abstractions, minimal bloat.
• Fast learner capable in unfamiliar domains like internet measurement and geospatial reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Make sense of large, unfamiliar datasets from OpenStreetMap, Overture, and noisy device data.
• Maintain and extend BigQuery data pipelines with efficient, transparent code.
• Work with geospatial data and BigQuery geospatial tools; occasional Python usage.
• Use AI tooling while owning every line in your PRs.
• Communicate problems and solutions clearly in our issue-tracking system with concise records.
• Occasionally build web dashboards to provide visibility into data pipelines for teams.
