Job summary

Virginia Tech Conservation Management Institute seeks a Geospatial Analyst to develop, maintain, analyze, and document geospatial datasets using GIS, GPS, and remote sensing technologies for natural resource conservation and military land management programs.

The successful candidate will support research, planning, and project-critical decision making through data development and analysis. Overtime exempt, 40 hours/week, with criminal conviction check required.

Qualifications

MS degree in natural resources or BS with GIS/remote sensing certifications.
Experience analyzing geospatial datasets from aerial/satellite imagery and LiDAR.
Ability to create professional cartographic products for reports and publications.
Experience with GPS and Esri GIS software.
Experience collecting, managing, and integrating field and spatial data.
Familiarity with DoD Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and document geospatial datasets using GIS, GPS, and remote sensing.
Support research, planning, and project-critical decision making.
Assist with data analysis and reporting for conservation and military programs.
