Job summary

The Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) is hiring a Geoscience Communications Specialist (Limited Duration). The role supports the Geological Survey and Services and MLPR programs, coordinating content, editing, and messaging of operational earth science information to inform resource management at local to statewide levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or Behavioral/Social Sciences or related field.
• Three years technical or higher-level experience directly related to the position under recruitment.
• Qualifying education/experience may include Geology/geography/geomorphology/paleontology or related physical sciences; or experience as an agency representative with external messaging work products.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, develop, edit, distribute, and message the agency’s operational earth science and mining information to inform natural resource management locally to statewide.
• Maintain and manage website content and coordinate with communications staff to meet professional science communication and publication standards.
• Assist with messaging for newsletters, news articles, and press releases to external parties of interest.
