Job description

MedStar Medical Group Anesthesiology (MMGA) is seeking a full-time anesthesiologist with expertise in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine to be based at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.

Our Acute Pain Service is an expanding part of our practice, focusing on peripheral nerve and neuraxial catheter placement, enhancing patient experience, and minimizing opioid use. We have a strong regional anesthesia program, performing over 1,200 blocks annually for orthopedic and plastic surgery patients. Additionally, the Acute Pain Service employs multimodal analgesia techniques, especially for spine and transplant surgical populations.

Common blocks include:

• Upper Extremity: Interscalene, Supraclavicular, Infraclavicular, Axillary, Intercostobrachial
• Lower Extremity: Femoral, Adductor Canal, Sciatic (Subgluteal/Anterior/Popliteal), PENG, iPACK, Fascia Iliaca, Lateral Femoral Cutaneous
• Chest Wall: Parasternal, PECS, Paravertebral, Erector Spinae Plane, Serratus Anterior Plane
• Abdominal: TAP, Rectus Sheath, Quadratus Lumborum, Ilioinguinal/Iliohypogastric
• Miscellaneous: Stellate Ganglion
