Job summary

VHB seeks a Geomatics Survey Project Manager to lead land surveying projects in the Orlando/Tampa area. The role focuses on scope, schedule, and budget management for small to large linear surveys, while coordinating field crews and staff across disciplines.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in geomatics, a Florida PSM license, and strong experience with GPS, Total Station, and Reality Capture including UAVs and terrestrial scanning.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years geomatics/land surveying experience, including managing large-scale projects.
  • Florida PSM license is required.
  • Degree in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Engineering, or related field preferred and may substitute for some experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam.
  • Experience with GPS, Total Station, UAVs, terrestrial scanning, and LiDAR processing.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Geomatics Survey Project Manager | Orlando |Tampa

If you have a strong background in Land Surveying and Reality Capture across various applications - such as ALTA surveys, linear utility surveys, highway & transportation surveys - we want to hear from you. Responsibilities
  • Project management of scope, schedule and budget for small, medium and large, long linear land survey projects
  • Management of project staff and clients
  • Performance and/or oversight of surveying calculations and deliverables
  • Analysis and interpretation of public records research, including deeds, plans and other pertinent documents for the project
  • Reviews and certifies work that staff has completed with a high-level of precision and accuracy
  • Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed
  • Coordination of field crews and Survey/CAD Technicians
  • Perform field checks, manage quality control of all products
  • Coordinate survey efforts with other groups in an integrated services environment
  • Manage both field and office staff on private, public and FDOT Projects
  • Client management and business development experience preferred
Skills and Attributes
  • Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of Land Surveying, including legal requirements.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural, and structural drawings
  • Thorough understanding of the use of up-to-date survey technologies and interface with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Experience with Open Roads Design, MicroStation and GeoPak is a plus
  • Topo DOT extraction
  • Ability to direct and monitor construction layout services
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Motivated to lead and mentor others
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of geomatics/land surveying experience, including managing large-scale, complex land surveying projects required
  • Florida PSM license is required
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Degree in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Engineering, or related field preferred and may substitute for some experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, Excell, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam
  • Trimble Business Center, Trimble Access, and Trimble Connect
  • Proficiency in all aspects of field and office land surveying including boundary line and topographic survey as well as construction stakeout
  • Experience with electronic instruments, field data collectors, GPS, robotic instruments, remote sensing technologies such as UAV's and terrestrial scanning, LiDAR processing software (Leica Cyclone and global mapper) is preferred
  • Experience with ESRI software is a plus

The full-time annual base salary range for this position, located in Florida, is $75,000 to $100,000. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.

Annual base salary is one component of VHB's Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
