Job summary

VHB is seeking a Geomatics Survey Project Manager in the Orlando/Tampa area to lead complex land surveying initiatives. You will oversee scope, schedule, budget, and staff, while guiding field crews and CAD technicians to deliver accurate results.

Applicants should bring 5+ years in geomatics, a Florida PSM license, and expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GPS and reality capture technologies, including UAVs and terrestrial scanning. The role supports hybrid work and client-focused project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years in geomatics/land surveying with project management experience.
  • Florida PSM license is required.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation and related surveying tools.
  • Experience with GPS, Total Station, UAVs and terrestrial scanning is preferred.
  • Ability to manage scope, schedule and budget for varied project sizes.

Geomatics Survey Project Manager | Orlando | Tampa. Are you an experienced Geomatics professional ready to elevate your career? VHB’s dynamic Geomatics team is seeking a talented Geomatics Survey Project Manager to join our Southeast region. If you have a strong background in Land Surveying and Reality Capture across applications such as ALTA surveys, linear utility surveys, and highway & transportation surveys, this role requires a cutting-edge understanding of the latest technologies in GPS, Total Station, and Reality Capture including UAS, Terrestrial Scanning and other scanning applications. Responsibilities
  • Project management of scope, schedule and budget for small, medium and large, long linear land survey projects
  • Management of project staff and clients
  • Performance and/or oversight of surveying calculations and deliverables
  • Analysis and interpretation of public records research, including deeds, plans and other pertinent documents for the project
  • Review and certify work that staff has completed with a high level of precision and accuracy
  • Keep accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed
  • Coordination of field crews and Survey/CAD Technicians
  • Perform field checks and manage quality control of all products
  • Coordinate survey efforts with other groups in an integrated services environment
  • Manage both field and office staff on private, public and FDOT projects
  • Client management and business development experience preferred
Skills And Attributes
  • Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of Land Surveying, including legal requirements
  • Proficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural, and structural drawings
  • Thorough understanding of the use of up-to-date survey technologies and interface with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Experience with Open Roads Design, MicroStation and GeoPak is a plus
  • Topo DOT extraction
  • Ability to direct and monitor construction layout services
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Motivated to lead and mentor others
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of geomatics/land surveying experience, including managing large-scale, complex land surveying projects required
  • Florida PSM license is required
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Degree in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Engineering, or related field preferred and may substitute for some experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam
  • Trimble Business Center, Trimble Access, and Trimble Connect
  • Proficiency in all aspects of field and office land surveying including boundary line and topographic survey as well as construction stakeout
  • Experience with electronic instruments, field data collectors, GPS, robotic instruments, remote sensing technologies such as UAVs and terrestrial scanning, LiDAR processing software (Leica Cyclone and Global Mapper) is preferred
  • Experience with ESRI software is a plus
