University of Florida invites applications for the Assistant Professor of Geomatics – Cadastral Principles. The position is a 9-month tenure-accruing role within the School of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatics Sciences, combining teaching and Extension responsibilities across FL.

The candidate will design and deliver courses in cadastral surveying, participate in field components, mentor students, and lead statewide Extension efforts on land tenure and cadastral workflows.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Geomatics, Surveying Engineering, Land Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum development.
  • Experience in Extension, outreach, or applied engagement with stakeholders.
  • Record of obtaining extramural funding.
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to the land‑grant mission.
  • Commitment to UF core values.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses such as Cadastral Principles, Surveying and Mapping Practice, and Geodetic Surveying for Land Management.
  • Combine classroom teaching with field components using boundary surveying techniques, parcel datasets, and the legal aspects of land administration.
  • Mentor students, supervise capstone projects and graduate theses, and support career development for surveying or land‑administration pathways.
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation, development of distance‑education modules, and interdisciplinary teaching across the School of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatics Sciences.
  • Lead statewide Extension program focused on cadastral systems, land tenure, and surveying geospatial infrastructure; deliver workshops and short courses.
  • Secure extramural funding to sustain and expand Extension activities.
