We are partnered with a growing land surveying and geomatics firm serving Asheville and Western North Carolina that is looking to add an experienced Geomatics Field Technician / Crew Chief – Asheville / WNC to their team. With a strong backlog of boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, and easement projects across the region, this is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned field professional who enjoys autonomy, leadership responsibility, and long-term career growth in one of North Carolina's most dynamic markets.
The Geomatics Field Technician / Crew Chief – Asheville will be responsible for:
- Leading and coordinating daily field survey operations throughout Asheville and Western North Carolina.
- Performing boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, and easement surveys with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
- Operating GNSS/GPS equipment, robotic total stations, and data collectors to collect and manage field data.
- Managing field crew activities while maintaining safety, productivity, and quality standards.
- Communicating effectively with Project Managers regarding project progress, field conditions, and schedule updates.
- Navigating and working in mountainous, wooded, and developed environments throughout the region.
- Supporting project delivery by ensuring complete and accurate field documentation and data collection.
The Geomatics Field Technician / Crew Chief – Asheville should have the following qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Crew Chief, Party Chief, Senior Field Technician, or experienced Survey Technician.
- Strong background performing boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, and easement surveys.
- Proficiency with GNSS/GPS systems, robotic total stations, and modern survey data collection equipment.Ability to work independently and lead field operations with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Project Managers and office staff.
- Experience working in varied terrain including mountainous, wooded, and developed environments.
- North Carolina surveying experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout Western North Carolina.
