Woolpert is seeking a GEOMAP Data Engineer to join the AFCEC GeoBase team in San Antonio, TX. This on-site role requires 4 days at Lackland AFB and 1 day remote, with no visa sponsorship.

You will develop Python-based geospatial solutions, automate complex data tasks, and manage dashboards while leveraging Esri ArcGIS in a cloud-enabled environment. A Secret clearance is required to support sensitive Air Force projects.

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Active Secret (or higher) security clearance required.
• Expert ArcGIS Pro user with Portal for ArcGIS admin and ArcGIS Feature Service admin skills.
• Experience deploying apps in AWS cloud and integrating GIS data.
• Familiarity with SDSFIE or similar spatial data models.

Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring a GEOMAP Data Engineer to join our dynamic Department of the Air Force (DAF) GeoBase team based in San Antonio, Texas. This is an on-site role with a schedule of 4 days working at the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) on Lackland Air Force Base and 1 day working remotely.

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.

What You Will Do

• Develop custom applications, web services and enterprise solutions using Python
• Develop tools and scripts to automate complex data processing tasks and routine geoprocessing operations for the Air Force geospatial enterprise system
• Design user-friendly interfaces and ensure application performance and quality
• Integrate data across applications and conduct code, automation, and dashboard reviews with teammates
• Create and manage GEOMAP dashboards and Portal content with enterprise teams
• Create, maintain, and improve enterprise geoprocessing services
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing applications for improved efficiency
• Administer integrations with other systems and manage on-premises data gateways
• Support and troubleshoot GIS software, script, and tool performance
• Upgrade and migrate existing GIS applications and services to the Cloud One (Amazon Web Services) environment
• Utilize the GeoBase Agile framework to enable task visibility and project transparency to AFCEC client:
  • Use Agile platform (Jira, Confluence) to record all processes and tasks, and manage all projects

What You Will Bring

• U.S. citizenship
• Active Secret (or higher) security clearance
  • Willingness to undergo a background check and drug screening
• Current CompTIA Security+ certification
• Expert knowledge of Esri ArcGIS software and capabilities:
  • Expert ArcGIS Pro user
  • Proficient with Portal for ArcGIS administration
  • Proficient with Esri Feature Service administration
  • Proficient creating and modifying Python scripts using ArcPy
• Experience with Oracle database and other RDBMS software in cloud environments:
  • Familiarity with SQL*Plus and PostgreSQL
• Experience working and deploying applications in a cloud environment such as AWS
• Experience with the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) GIS data standards or other defined spatial data models
• Advanced knowledge of geospatial data types
• Proficient performing projection and coordinate system transformation processes
• Excellent technical writing skills:
  • Proficient communicating complex technical issues to project and client leadership
  • Ability to offer constructive feedback and problem solving, as well as clear direction to support goals
• Attention to detail - proven experience meeting data quality assurance and accuracy standards
• Strong organizational, time management and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently, collaboratively as part of a team, and as a member of a large organization
• The following experience is favored:
• Experience with the DAF GeoBase program
• Proficiency with the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) GIS data standards or experience with other defined spatial data models
• Experience using Agile methodologies, preferably Atlassian (Jira, Confluence) software
• Experience in enterprise GIS
• Experience with DoW geospatial data or systems

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Pay Range

$87,100 - $108,900 USD
