Job summary

Perella Weinberg in Houston, TX is seeking a full-time geologist to join its Integrated Subsurface Team and perform regional basin studies, provide geologic support to live projects, and contribute to expanding the firm’s technical knowledge base.

You will work with engineers and financial professionals to develop subsurface models for North American unconventional plays, perform geologic mapping from public and private data, and carry out petrophysical analysis from core to volumetrics.

Qualifications

• 1 to 10 years of relevant E&P or investment banking experience
• Familiarity with GeoGraphix and/or Petra software packages is ideal, but will train on the job
• Experience with unconventional geologic analysis preferred, including log analysis, basin-level pay mapping, and horizontal geosteering basics.Incremental experience in domestic or international conventional plays is helpful but not required.
• Fulsome understanding of log interpretation, petrophysics, stratigraphy, and structural geology
• Intangibles: Results-focused, strong work ethic, team-oriented, self-starter, excellent communication and public speaking skills

Responsibilities

• Team: Work closely with engineers and financial professionals to develop comprehensive subsurface models, primarily for North American unconventional oil and gas plays
• Mapping: Geologic mapping from public and private data sources
• Petrophysics: Log analysis and mapping from core analysis to volumetrics
• Presentations: Creating content for and delivering data room presentations to buyers, pitches to prospective clients, and other presentations
• Data handling: QC and filter data for virtual datarooms, assist geotechs with maintaining several dynamic geoscientific databases
