Job summary

ICF is seeking a Florida‑licensed Professional Geologist On‑Call to join our Environment & Planning team. This role involves applying geological principles to support environmental planning projects and resource evaluation, primarily performing Oil, Gas, and Mineral (OGM) assessments for less‑than‑fee easement acquisitions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of verified geological work experience on environmental or natural resource projects.
  • Active Florida PG license.
  • At least 1 year of experience analyzing geologic, soil, and/or groundwater data for technical reporting.
  • At least 1 year of experience preparing technical documents or environmental assessments.
  • At least 1 year using standard geological data analysis methods and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Oil, Gas, and Mineral (OGM) assessments to evaluate the presence, quality, and/or development potential of mineral resources that underlie properties considered for less‑than‑fee acquisitions.
  • Evaluate information from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) oil and gas permitting database, mines database, and local/regional geologic maps and reports.
  • Prepare a brief technical report summarizing the OGM assessment, including a GIS map exhibit and supplementary data such as well‑borehole information.
  • Perform other geology‑related tasks as needed in support of the Environment & Planning division.
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical specialists, and regulatory stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

Must Have Qualifications

  • 5+ years of verified geological work experience in applying geological principles to environmental or natural resource projects requiring geological assessments.
  • Current, active Florida Professional Geologist (PG) license.
  • At least 1 year of experience analyzing geologic, soil, and/or groundwater data to support technical reporting.
  • At least 1 year of experience preparing technical documents, reports, or environmental assessments.
  • At least 1 year of experience using standard geological or environmental data analysis methods and tools.
Additional Skills That Will Help You Succeed
  • Experience supporting projects conducted under Florida environmental regulations.
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary environmental or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
  • Proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro).
