Job summary

State of South Dakota, Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, is offering a Geologist Intern position for the Summer session (May–August) in Vermillion. The student will assist Geological Survey personnel with mapping geology and groundwater resources, including drilling test holes, installing monitoring wells, water sampling, mapping, data analysis, and GIS work.

Applicants must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student and have completed one year of their program.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as part-time or full-time student at time of application.
• By the start of the internship, completed one year of their chosen program.
• Preference to juniors/seniors, SD residents, and students of SD institutions.

Responsibilities

• Assist SD Geological Survey personnel with mapping geology and groundwater resources.
• Drill test holes, install monitoring wells, collect water samples, map, and perform GIS mapping.
