POSITION SUMMARY

Allen Engineering and Science, Inc. is seeking an entry- to mid-level Geologist to support multi-media environmental investigation, remediation, transactional due diligence and monitoring projects. This role will work alongside project managers, engineers, scientists, and field teams to collect and evaluate environmental data and help prepare accurate, high-quality project deliverables.

The ideal candidate is a dependable, ambitious, motivated, safety-minded professional who enjoys a mix of field and office work. This position offers the opportunity to build technical expertise in subsurface investigations, site characterization, soil gas, waste and building materials, groundwater and soil sampling, data interpretation, and environmental reporting while supporting projects across AllenES’s southeastern and eastern U.S. regions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform and document environmental field activities including soil and groundwater sampling, well installation oversight, and long-term monitoring.
  • Support remedial investigations, corrective action projects, and high-resolution site characterization under the direction of senior technical staff.
  • Collect, organize, validate, and interpret environmental and geologic data for use in project planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Perform Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) review of field and laboratory data to ensure accuracy and completeness compared to project objectives.
  • Prepare field notes, tables, figures, technical reports, work plans, and report sections in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform site reconnaissance, review environmental records, and conduct personnel interviews in support of environmental due diligence projects.
  • Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, laboratories, and clients to support safe, efficient field and project execution.
  • Follow applicable federal, state, and local environmental requirements, as well as AllenES health, safety, and quality procedures.
  • Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, proposal preparation, and other project management activities as experience develops.
  • Support additional project needs as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology from an accredited college or university.
  • Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification.
  • Up to 8 years of relevant geology, environmental consulting, or field investigation experience. Relevant internships and academic research/fieldwork may be considered for entry-level candidates.
  • Ability to accurately document field activities, organize technical data, and contribute to clear written deliverables.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Valid driver’s license, ability to travel to project sites, and ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in Geology.
  • Experience with environmental (soil/groundwater) sampling, drilling oversight, monitoring well installation, site characterization, geophysical investigations, or remediation projects.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations, technical reporting, groundwater concepts, data visualization, GIS, or groundwater modeling.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training or the ability to complete required training.
