Job summary

EOG Resources seeks an experienced Exploration Geologist to join their team in Houston, Texas. The role involves working with geophysicists, petrophysicists, and reservoir engineers to identify unconventional opportunities and exploration prospects.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in oil and gas prospecting, a MS degree in Geology/Geophysics, and experience with both conventional and unconventional exploration. Strong team collaboration and mentoring abilities are essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of oil and gas prospecting experience required.
• Experience in international exploration and knowledge of both conventional and unconventional exploration.
• Experience in structural and stratigraphic styles, with a preference for horizontal experience.

Responsibilities

Job description

Overview

Exploration geologist on a team with geophysicists, petrophysicists, reservoir engineers and other professionals to aggressively find exploration prospects and identify unconventional opportunities within the New Ventures Group of the International Division. Must have operating group experience and demonstrated ability to understand and develop shale resource plays and tight gas fields. Projects will include integration of petrophysical data as well as geologic maps and data.

Requirements

• MS degree in Geology/Geophysics and a minimum of 10+ years of oil and gas prospecting experience required.
• Experience in international exploration required. Having both conventional and unconventional exploration experience is a significant benefit.
• Experience in a variety of structural and stratigraphic styles is also required, with an added benefit from experience in resource plays. Horizontal experience is also preferred.
• Basin analysis capabilities a plus. This position requires the ability to work in a team environment with drilling, land, and engineering personnel to take prospects from concept through drill ready prospects.
• Qualified candidates will be current on all applicable technologies, including computer-based geological applications, and will be able to handle a high volume of data.
• Candidate must be self-motivated and have excellent presentation skills.
• Candidate must desire to be a team player and to mentor others
