Basic Function

Please Note: Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. This allows the division to contact qualified applicants immediately if a need arises, without waiting for a new advertisement. Representative Duties

This pool is used to staff part-time adjunct positions in Geography.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's in Geography
• OR Bachelor's in Geography AND Master's in Geology, History, Meteorology, or Oceanography
• OR the equivalent (applicants must submit an Application for Equivalency form with supporting documents)
• OR see Interdisciplinary Studies

Degrees must be from accredited institutions. Foreign degrees require evaluation by a recognized credential evaluation service.

Knowledge & Abilities

• Broad knowledge and depth in the discipline of Geography
• Ability to work effectively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds
• Curriculum development skills, including delivery via various modalities
• Participation in recruitment and articulation activities
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to maintain subject matter currency and assess student learning outcomes
• Knowledge of computers and willingness to adopt new technologies
• Understanding of and commitment to the California community college mission
