Job summary

SSP Innovations, LLC is seeking a GIS Specialist to analyze utility maps and tabular data, create advanced data production functions, and support QA and training.

You will use ESRI GIS software and ArcPro, ensure data quality, and produce project documentation. Occasional travel and collaboration with project teams are expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geography, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Relevant certifications are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Job description

GIS Specialists are data production employees that perform several advanced data production functions within a project by analyzing utility maps, sketches, field photographs, and tabular data. In this position, GIS Specialist team members will also perform QA, provide training as needed, and create project documentation.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Create and/or maintain advanced data production functions (for gas, electric, or telecommunication commodities) using GIS-related software
• Working knowledge of all project tools/specifications to complete work
• Perform data quality control functions
• Consistently exceeds the productivity standards per project requirements
• Consistently exceeds the quality standards per project requirements
• Occasional involvement in project start-ups and client interaction as needed
• Produce project specific documentation as needed
• Travel, on a limited basis, as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Skills

• 1-5 years of related GIS experience
• Willingness and ability to gain an advanced understanding of commodities
• Experience in editing, manipulating, and analyzing data within GIS
• Consistently detail oriented, organized, and quality focused
• Ability to work under minimal supervision
• Advanced oral and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate issues and potential solutions effectively
• Takes the initiative to learn new things
• Proficient working knowledge with ESRI GIS software
• Exposure to or initial training in ArcPro or Utility Network (UN)
• Proficient working knowledge with Microsoft Office

Education, Certifications, and/or Experience
