The City of Riverside is hiring a GIS Analyst Trainee to support the Power Generation Division’s Geographic Information System. You will participate in data development, spatial analysis, and basic GIS application development to serve city departments and the public.
You will assist in creating maps, topology, and GPS control points, while providing timely GIS products and documentation. The role requires coordination with surveyors and field operations, with after-hours support as needed.
The City of Riverside, Public Utilities Department (RPU) is accepting applications for the position of GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS) ANALYST TRAINEE to fill one (1) vacancy in thePower Generation Division.The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months.
Under general supervision, A GIS Analyst Trainee will perform a variety of routine professional office and field duties involved in the development, implementation, operation, performance, and maintenance of the City's Geographic Information System (GIS) program. Assists in the design, storage, and analysis of data which is referenced spatially and responds to requests and provides Geographic Information System data to City departments, outside agencies, and the public; and performs other related duties as assigned.
A GIS Analyst Trainee must meet the minimum requirements within 12 months of appointment. Typical duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or closely related field.
Experience: One year of full-time work experience in drafting, engineering and/or using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Experience using GIS software, computer aided design, and GIS equipment is highly desirable.
Education:Equivalent to an Associate's Degree with coursework in geographic information systems, computer science or closely related field.
Experience: Three years of full-time work experience in drafting, engineering and/or using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Experience using GIS software, computer aided design, and GIS equipment is highly desirable.
Education:High School graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED). A GIS certification may substitute for one year of the required experience.
Experience: Five years of full-time work experience in drafting, engineering and/or using Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
