Job summary

MANTECH seeks a motivated GIS Analyst to join our team in Solana Beach, CA. The role combines strong technical GIS skills with support for USMC range training and NEPA requirements.

You will develop geospatial products, apply NGA mapping templates, and implement SDSFIE standards, working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Travel may be required; a BS/2+ years in GIS with ArcGIS experience and Python scripting preferred. Active clearance desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or technical certification in GIS, Geography, Computer Science/IT, or related field with 2+ years GIS experience.
• Strong proficiency with Esri ArcGIS suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop).
• Experience with GPS field data collection, hardware integration, and post-processing workflows.
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• USMC Range Support: Develop cartographic products supporting range training and safety using NGA templates and defense data standards.
• NEPA Mapping: Create publication-ready mapping and spatial deliverables for Navy NEPA documentation.
• SDSFIE Schema Management: Build and maintain spatial data following SDSFIE models (GDM, NDM).
• Danger Zone Modeling: Support SDZ/WDZ mapping using the Range Manager’s Tool Kit (RMTK).
• Database & QA/QC: Reconcile geodatabases and generate technical reports in a high-volume environment.
• Multi-Project Task Management: Balance tasks across US Navy and USMC accounts including environmental mapping.

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst to join our team in Solana Beach, CA.

The GIS Analyst will leverage their strong technical background and knowledge to support USMC range training and safety alongside Navy National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements. Key responsibilities include geospatial product development, application of NGA mapping templates, and Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) schema implementation.

Responsibilities

• USMC Range Support: Develop cartographic products supporting USMC range training and safety, utilizing NGA mapping templates and defense data standards.
• NEPA Mapping: Create publication-ready mapping and spatial deliverables for Navy National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation.
• SDSFIE Schema Management: Build, update, and manage spatial data following SDSFIE service models, specifically the GeoFidelis Data Model (GDM) and Navy Data Model (NDM).
• Danger Zone Modeling: Apply knowledge of the Range Manager’s Tool Kit (RMTK) to support Surface Danger Zone (SDZ) and Weapons Danger Zone (WDZ) mapping and operational workflows.
• Database & QA/QC: Reconcile geodatabases and generate technical reports, operating effectively both independently and within a high-volume team environment.
• Multi-Project Task Management: Balance simultaneous tasking across US Navy and USMC accounts, including environmental analysis mapping and operational data support.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or technical certification in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Computer Science/IT, or a related field, combined with 2+ years of relevant professional GIS experience.
• Strong proficiency and hands‑on experience using the Esri ArcGIS suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop).
• Proven experience with GPS field data collection, hardware integration, and post-processing workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively collaborate within a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with USMC or US Navy operational training requirements, range safety, or NEPA processes.
• Experience using Python scripting (ArcPy) to perform complex spatial analysis and automate GIS workflows.
• Hands‑on experience configuring ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal, publishing web services, and creating web maps.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to balance multiple concurrent tasks and deliver under tight deadlines.
• Prior military background or DoD contractor experience is highly desirable.
• Active secret security clearance

Clearance Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required while holding at least an active Public Trust/Suitability clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and a Common Access Card (CAC)

Physical Requirements

• Stationary Position: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
• Office Mobility: Constantly/occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and collaborative spaces.
• Communication & Presentation: Frequently communicates with co‑workers, management, and customers; must be able to deliver presentations and exchange accurate information effectively.
