Job summary

Vytwo in San Diego, CA is seeking an Automation QA Engineer to test software for genomics and life sciences workflows. This is a quality engineering role focused on designing, implementing, and executing automated and manual test coverage for platforms that process genomic data, ensuring results align with lab processes.

Must-have is strong Python-based test automation experience (pytest/unittest/Robot Framework).

Qualifications

3+ years in QA/test automation with Python scripting.
Knowledge of genomics concepts and data formats.
Experience in Life Sciences or Biotech software.
Exposure to wet/dry lab environments.
Experience testing or interacting with LIMS platforms.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain Python-based automated test suites for applications supporting genomics, sequencing, and life sciences data workflows.
Build and execute test plans, test cases, and regression suites covering functional, integration, and data-validation testing — no pipeline-building responsibility.
Validate software behavior against genomic science concepts (sequencing data types, variant calling outputs, sample-to-result traceability).
Coordinate with wet lab and dry lab teams to map tests to sample lifecycles and data handoffs.
Test integrations with LIMS ensuring sample tracking, chain-of-custody, and result reporting end-to-end.
Identify, document, and track defects; partner with engineering and product teams on root-cause analysis.
Contribute to test strategy for healthcare/life sciences compliance considerations (data integrity, audit trail).
Continuously improve automation frameworks, CI/CD test integration, and test data management practices.
