Job summary

National Computer Systems seeks an Automation QA Engineer for genomics and life sciences workflows in San Diego, onsite from day one. You will design, build, and run automated and manual tests for platforms processing genomic data, ensuring outputs align with lab concepts.

Strong Python-based test automation skills are essential, with experience in pytest/unittest or Robot Framework. Exposure to LIMS and collaboration with wet and dry lab teams is highly valued.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering or related field
• 3+ years in QA / test automation with Python scripting
• Experience with genomics concepts, sequencing data and data formats
• Experience in Life Sciences/ biotech software environments
• Exposure to LIMS platforms and coordination with wet/dry lab teams
• Familiarity with API/automation testing tools in addition to Python frameworks

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites (Python-based) for genomics/bioinformatics applications
• Create and execute test plans, test cases, and regression suites (functional, integration, data-validation)
• Validate software against genomic concepts and data types to ensure accuracy
• Coordinate with wet/dry lab teams to understand sample lifecycle and data handoffs
• Test integrations with LIMS ensuring traceability and end-to-end data handling
• Identify, document, and track defects and work with teams on root-cause analysis
• Improve automation frameworks, CI/CD integration, and test data management
