Job summary

Aviagen seeks a Lab Monitoring Technician I to support genomic lab testing and sample handling at our Elkmont, AL facility. You will obtain blood samples, ensure sample integrity, and assist with collection while adhering to strict biosecurity and safety standards.

This role requires accuracy and reliability in a fast-paced lab environment. Responsibilities include maintaining inventory, preparing samples for shipment, and performing routine tests as directed by management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Comfortable with technology.
• Able to communicate orally, written, and via email.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Able to handle farm samples while maintaining sample integrity and lab safety.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood samples and prepare associated files for genomic lab testing.
• Ensure the accuracy of samples taken for parental assignment.
• Assist with sample collection while following biosecurity and safety guidelines.
• Maintain inventory of DNA supplies to prevent work delays.
• Prepare and pack samples for shipment to testing facilities.
• Perform routine departmental tests as directed by lab management.
• Maintain laboratory and pen hygiene and ensure quality of work and product.
