Job summary

New York Genome Center seeks a Staff Scientist to prepare grant applications and scientific communications across genomic topics. The role involves collaborating with students, postdocs, and principal investigators to align scientific goals with grant opportunities and research communications.

The candidate will lead proposal management, provide grantsmanship advice, and coordinate drafting, review, and submission of grant materials, manuscripts, and related documents.

Qualifications

• PhD in genetics, genomics, cancer biology, neuroscience or related discipline required.
• 5+ years research experience, including contributing to grant writing, required; NIH experience strongly desirable.
• Exceptional written communication skills required to prepare and edit competitive grant applications and other materials.
• Applied statistics background required for power calculations and quantitative metrics for genomic assays.
• Experience with multi-investigator and institutional grant applications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and project management of individual and multi-investigator proposals.
• Provide grantsmanship advice and editorial support for administrative sections.
• Coordinate proposal timelines and deliverables; manage scientific writing process.
• Draft, review and revise grants and scientific communications.
• Coordinate with Sponsored Research staff to ensure timely submission.
• Edit manuscripts, fellowship applications, progress reports and protocols.
• Collaborate with lab members to develop new grant proposals and plan experiments.
