Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston seeks a Research Technologist to support the OGI Genomics core. You will perform diagnostic genetic testing, including DNA/RNA extraction, sequencing, and data analysis within a CLIA-certified environment under supervision.

You may train staff, maintain equipment, and ensure meticulous documentation while collaborating with researchers to integrate genomic technologies into projects.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor\'s Degree in Biological Sciences or Related Field.
• Experience: 3-5 years in an academic or laboratory research setting.
• Experience with DNA extraction, Sanger sequencing and/or next-generation sequencing highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out a wide range of genomics techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, next-generation sequencing, NGS library preparation/target enrichment, RT-qPCR, and Sanger sequencing for diagnostic-based genetic analyses.
• Performing procedures with high accuracy and understanding the theory behind tests and procedures.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment such as spectrophotometers, sequencers, thermal cyclers, and ultracentrifuges.
• Follow quality control policies and determine corrective actions as needed.
• Collect, analyze and interpret results; prepare status reports.
• Onboard and train new staff in the lab.
