The Genetic Counseling Assistant will support the Cancer Genetics Clinic. The Genetic Counselor Assistant will assist the attending physicians and the genetic counselors with pre- and post-clinic work including the collection of personal and family history information, handling logistics for genetic testing, entering information in clinic databases, communicating with patients about personal health and family history information, and participating as needed in clinic case conferences. Personal integrity, confidentiality, ability to multi-task, prioritize and work constructively in a team setting are required qualities.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
