Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in a relevant biological or laboratory science is required.
• Cytogeneticist certification/qualification required or four years of training/experience with at least two years in clinical cytogenetics if no fellowship.
• Strong leadership and regulatory compliance capabilities expected.

Responsibilities

• Oversees analytical performance of all tests and directs staff in problem resolution.
• Oversees external lab services for tests not performed in-house.
• Communicates with professional staff about methodology, test selection, and results interpretation.
• Develops and monitors long-range goals with the Medical Director and Laboratory Manager.
• Guides evaluation of new methods or instruments for potential use in the lab.
• Represents the laboratory within and outside the RML and Rush Medical Center.

Education

Doctoral degree in a relevant biological or laboratory science (biochemistry, clinical/medical laboratory science, or medical technology)
