Job summary

ECS Federal LLC is seeking a Genetic Statistical SME in Stafford, VA with eligibility for remote work. The role focuses on forensic population genetics, validation of Popstats, and publishing white papers.

Responsibilities include collaboration with government partners and presenting findings at CODIS-related meetings. The candidate should have active clearance and 3+ years in population genetics, with experience in kinship, paternity, and mixture calculations.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance.
• 3+ years’ experience in human population genetics.
• Strong understanding of Popstats calculations: Forensic Single Sample, Mixture, Kinship, Parentage, Partial Match, Match Estimation.
• Ability to review Popstats FSD for accuracy, clear explanations, improvement suggestions to CODIS.
• Experience in creating whitepapers, providing recommendations to government.
• Collaborative experience publishing scholarly articles on CODIS functionality.
• Verification of statistical and scientific validity of software changes.
• Presentation experience at CODIS conference, state administrator meetings, SWGDAM or similar.

Provide support in forensic science, population genetics, forensic DNA likelihood ratios, allelic dependencies, and population substructures. Review Population Statistics (Popstats) to ensure calculations are accurate, evaluate Popstats to ensure proper caveats are contained within CPI and CPE descriptions to prevent misuse by labs. Provide white papers, guidance, recommend enhancements to kinship, paternity and mixture calculations, validate likelihood ratios. Support emergent issues, collaborate with ECS and government to publish white papers, verify validity of software changes. Present at CODIS Conference, CODIS State Administrator meetings, SWGDAM, or similar.

Hourly Range

$100 - $148 per hour.
