SMG Surgery Specialists Leigh in Norfolk VA is hiring a Genetic Counselor.
This position is 100% remote however candidates must reside in the State of Virginia.
Provides genetic counseling services and education to patients and their family members under the physician's direct supervision, serving as an expert resource regarding cancer-related genetics.
Functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on the medical specialty of cancer genetics. Provides leadership and education to patients, family members, staff, Physicians, and other healthcare providers. Participates in research development activities. Serve as a consultant for the Cancer Risk Assessment and Genetic Counselor Program for Sentara Professionals. Works with and supports physicians, health colleagues, and the community in efforts of education regarding the genetic aspects of hereditary cancer syndrome.
Genetic Counselor new graduates pending licensure must have received their master's degree in genetics, have their ABGC certification, and have received a temporary license through the Virginia Board of Medicine at time of hire.
