Job summary

Providence Swedish is seeking a Genetic Counseling Program Assistant to educate patients, coordinate counseling and testing, and document family history under supervision of certified genetic counselors.

The role supports clinic flow, coordinates genetic counseling visits, walk-in clinic, and sample collection; escorts patients to labs and handles paperwork for testing across PSJH. Meticulous data entry and strong customer service are required.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED; computer coursework included.
• Genetic Counseling Assistant Course(s) completed.
• GCA Certification upon hire.
• 4 years of Administrative or program operational/assistant experience.
• 2 years of Oncology and/or Genetics experience.
• 1 year of experience in a medical setting with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients of the clinic and coordinate genetic counseling visits and testing.
• Document personal and family history under supervision of certified genetic counselors.
• Assist with clinic flow, including walk-in clinic and sample collection.
• Escort patients to laboratories for blood draws and saliva collection; prepare paperwork for laboratory testing.
• Draw and update pedigrees; enter data into tracking systems.
• Collaborate with staff and support providers, including remote/contract providers.
