Job summary

Infinite Computer Solutions is seeking a qualified Genetic Counselor to review genetic testing requests for medical necessity, provide education to healthcare providers, and support regulatory compliance across multiple platforms.

The candidate should hold a Master’s in Genetic Counseling or Human Genetics, ABGC/ABMG certification, and state licensure, with at least 2 years of clinical experience and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or Human Genetics.
  • Certified diplomate of the American Board of Genetic Counseling or American Board of Medical Genetics.
  • Licensed Genetic Counselor in the state in which he/she resides, if applicable.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience as a clinical genetic counselor or comparable professional experience.
  • Additional expertise in public health, public policy, statistics, business, or computer science preferred.
  • Confident and decisive, even when it requires taking risks.
  • Work well in a dynamic environment and quickly adaptive to change.
  • Proactive and invigorated by new challenges.
  • Above average IT skills; comfortable with new software, able to troubleshoot.
  • Efficient and effective at time management.
  • Compassionate and empathetic, excellent communication skills (oral and written), effective tele-communications skills.
  • Open to constructive feedback and motivated to achieve new goals.
  • Self-directed with the ability to maintain a balance between life and work.

Responsibilities

  • Review clinical genetic testing requests for medical necessity and alignment with health plan policies and guidelines.
  • Provide education to healthcare providers, medical directors and clients regarding genetic testing.
  • Utilize and maintain proprietary content and software platforms for managing genetic testing authorization requests.
  • Ensure timely completion of client deliverables while adhering to regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with supervisor and team to meet division objectives.
  • Share knowledge and pursue process improvement opportunities.
  • Attend regular division and departmental meetings and contribute to strategy.
  • Maintain a positive company culture and meet KPIs.

Job description

We employ evidence-based best practice standards to support the appropriate and responsible use of genetic testing within the healthcare system as a whole.

Essential Functions
  • Use critical thinking skills and genetics expertise to review clinical genetic testing requests for medical necessity and alignment with health plan policies and professional society guidelines
  • Provide education to healthcare providers, medical directors and clients regarding appropriate utilization of genetic testing
  • Utilize and maintain proprietary content and software platforms for managing genetic testing authorization requests accurately and efficiently
  • Ensure the timely completion of client deliverables while adhering to all regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Work with direct supervisor and collaborate with other team members to meet overall division and company objectives
  • Share knowledge and think critically about process improvement opportunities
  • Participate in regular division and departmental meetings, where goals, processes, and strategies are communicated
  • Contribute to a positive company culture
  • Weekly attendance in team meetings
  • Collaboration with team members on projects and/or cases
  • Respond to all deadlines in a timely manner
  • Maintain expected case volume and compliance according to key performance indicators (KPIs)

Your Education & Experience
  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or Human Genetics
