Job summary

Yancey Bros. Co. is seeking a Generator Technician to service Perkins engines and generator sets across diverse applications. You will diagnose, repair, and report findings while maintaining safety and quality for customers and the shop.

The role emphasizes strong customer service, clear communication, and teamwork to meet urgent workloads and after-hours support needs. A technical background and EGSA certification are valued.

Qualifications

• Experience with Perkins industrial engines and generator sets.
• Knowledge of power generation components, power electronics, electronic controls, and fuel systems.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Excellent at managing customer relationships.
• Strong responsiveness and proactive problem solving.
• Ability to learn quickly and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, neat work environment with a focus on safety.
• Perform maintenance, diagnose, and repair Perkins and other generator sets.
• Apply failure analysis to determine root cause and report findings to customers and office.
• Care for and maintain company equipment to high standards.
• Respond to customer needs promptly to ensure value for work performed.
• Write full reports on findings from shop service events.
• Communicate status of maintenance with customers.
• Work overtime as required and be available for after-hours calls.
• Participate in safety program and perform duties safely.
• Additional duties as assigned by manager.
