Job summary

Davis & Green Electrical Contractors in Richmond, VA is seeking a Generator Technician who keeps standby power systems running and delivers excellent customer service. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, install and commission generators, and maintain records, with on-call rotation and a focus on safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing generators.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, generators, transfer switches, control panels, and PLCs.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on diesel and natural gas generator systems.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system failures.
• Repair and replace components including engines, alternators, voltage regulators, and control panels.
• Conduct load bank testing and performance evaluations.
• Install new generator systems and replacement units to code.
• Maintain detailed service and repair records.
• Communicate effectively with customers, dispatch, managers, and installation teams.
• Maintain company vehicle and inventory.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Follow all safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Attend training programs and pursue professional certifications.
