Job summary

Airgas in Baton Rouge, LA seeks a Generator Technician to repair, refurbish and maintain engine-driven power generators for rental.

Under supervision of the Branch Manager, you will assemble diesel generators, test equipment, document repairs and travel to service off-site when required.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, valid driver's license and generator repair experience; Airgas offers comprehensive benefits.

• Valid driver license and good driving record.
• Preferred generator repair experience and diesel engine knowledge; PLC controller experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Repair, refurbish and maintain engine-driven generators and related welding equipment.
• Assemble diesel power generator equipment for rental.
• Test and calibrate machines for rent or sale; document repairs.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and operate forklift/pallet jack as needed.
• Off-site service and parts coordination with Branch Coordinator.

Monday - Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm

Repair and Maintain Engine Driven Power Generators

• Repair and Maintain Engine Driven Power Generators Assembles electric, diesel, gas, and propane equipment for rental.
• Under the direction of the Branch Manager and in conjunction with the Shop Supervisor, the incumbent repairs, refurbishes, and maintains engine driven generators and ensures a safe working environment.
• Maintains a safe working environment by following Airgas/Red-D-Arc’s health and safety guidelines.
• Repairs, maintains, and refurbishes all Engine Driven Power Generators, with a secondary focus on engine driven welding equipment.
• Assembles diesel power generator equipment for rental.
• Tests and calibrates machines to see if they are functional for rent or sale.
• Performs paint touch ups and replaces worn and missing decals to maintain general appearance of welding equipment. on generators, and welders to maintain general appearance.
• Replaces defective parts and completes preventative maintenance required.
• Identifies proper parts and their numbers needed for repairs, orders parts as required to complete those repairs through parts or Branch Coordinator.
• Inspects returned Generator equipment for proper operation and/or damage by the customer.
• Operates a forklift, pallet jack or other necessary equipment load and upload equipment from vehicles and move equipment around the branch.
• Ensures a clean and organized work environment at all times.
• Properly documents all repairs and maintenance.
• Required to service equipment and customers off-site.
• Maintains communication with all branch personnel.
• Maintaining generators, diagnosing and repairing problems, or installing and replacing components or entire systems.
• Performs related duties as required.
