Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Generator Service Technician to maintain and repair electrical generator systems across data centers. You will diagnose engine mechanical failures, ensure safety protocols, and communicate with the Generator Service Manager to minimize downtime.

You will travel regionally to sites, document repairs, track time and expenses, and wear PPE as required. A lump-sum relocation stipend is available for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of electrical facilities maintenance experience.
• 2+ years of mechanical facilities maintenance experience.
• 2+ years of MS Office products and applications experience, or Bachelor's degree.
• Work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays in a 24/7/365 environment.

• Travel within an assigned region to sites and perform field service repairs to data center equipment.
• Document detailed descriptions of repair operations and record time, expenses, and mileage.

The Generation Service Technician has safety, customer satisfaction, and business responsibilities within data center operations. The person in this role is responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, diagnosing and providing quality repairs of electrical generator systems and related engine mechanical failures. As both a technical expert and primary customer support liaison, the Generator Service Technician is responsible for maintaining consistent communication with clients to ensure an exceptional customer experience while maximizing data center availability. All necessary tools and equipment will be provided by AWS.

NOTE: Lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate for this position.

Key job responsibilities

• Adhere to and promote all company safety protocols, maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
• Actively engage in accident prevention initiatives and contribute to ongoing safety improvement efforts to foster a culture of workplace safety
• Travel within an assigned region to designated sites and perform professional quality field service repairs consistent with company standards
• Keep Generator Service Manager continually apprised of current priorities to assist in answering customer questions and problems when necessary
• Action requests for procurement of needed materials to perform assigned duties
• Document detailed, complete and correct descriptions of all repair operations performed
• Accurately record time, expenses, and mileage
• Lift up to 40 lbs; pushing and pulling a maximum force of 40 lbs
• Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required and provided by AWS

A day in the life

The Generator Service Technician has safety, customer satisfaction, and business responsibilities within data center operations. The person in this role is responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, diagnosing and providing quality repairs of electrical generator systems and related engine mechanical failures.

The Generator Service Technician is both the technical expert and primary customer support contact to the customer, and is therefore responsible for continually communicating with the customer to provide an exceptional customer experience and drive data center up-time and availability.

Basic Qualifications

• 2+ years of electrical facilities maintenance and 2+ years of mechanical facilities maintenance experience
• 2+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience, or Bachelor\'s degree
• Work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays in a 24/7/365 environment

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of data center engineering experience
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings
• vocational/technical training or an associate degree or above, or 4+ years of military experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
