Job Description:

GDIT has an exciting opportunity available for a Mechanical Engineer maintaining Tactical/Commercial generators and HVAC systems in Okinawa, Japan. Successful applicant must have an active U.S. Government issued SECRET clearance, a valid passport, be a self-starter, and have a high degree of craftsmanship/quality in their work.

How the Generator/HVAC Mechanic will make an impact:

• Perform maintenance and sustainment on 3kW to 150kW, 50/60/400hz generators involving installation and removal of generators from fixed and mobile locations, troubleshoots and rebuilds engines, AC systems, DC systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessories.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, Chillers, and Environmental Control Units - some are standalone units and others are mounted on trailers and vehicles.
• Maintain all types of commercial power generation equipment; military spec generators and Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS).
• Rebuild and repair generator engines, head gaskets, seals, water pumps, fuel pumps, torque heads, belts and hoses.
• Test batteries, fuel and coolant.
• Use precision test equipment including various electrical meters, micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Some work will be in a generator shop environment and some work will be in a field environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you'll need to succeed:

• Able to lift and carry 75 pounds.
• Able to obtain an AAA international driver's license.
• Environmental Protection Agency EPA 608 Universal certificate.
• Knowledgeable of generator parallel systems and switch gear.
• BA/BS plus 2 years' experience, AA/AS plus 4 years' experience, or a High School diploma and 7 years' experience.
• Must have a current U.S. Government SECRET clearance.
• US passport must not expire for at least 2 years.
• Valid driver's license.

The likely salary range for this position is $64,600 - $87,400. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
