Qualifications

  • 2-3 years servicing Emergency Power Supply Systems preferred for Level I.
  • 4-6 years servicing EPSS preferred for Level II.
  • 8-10 years advanced troubleshooting for Master Technician.

The Generator Field Service Technician is responsible for on-site troubleshooting, repair, warranty/campaign service, preventative maintenance, and modifications of Generac industrial products. This role involves 100% travel with a fleet vehicle provided; no overnight travel expected. Overtime may be required during storms or outages.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Mechanical design, AC/DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, control systems knowledge.
  • Understanding of electrical distribution and transfer switch systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, ability to work independently, outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Experience in Electronics and Electromechanical Technology.
  • Knowledge of power generation equipment, including light towers.
  • Understanding of spark-ignited and compression-ignited internal combustion engines.
Qualifications by Technician Level:
Level I:
  • High School Diploma; 2-3 years servicing Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS); preferred: Associate’s in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; 4 years experience.
Level II:
  • High School Diploma; 4 years servicing EPSS; preferred: Associate’s degree; 6 years experience.
Level III:
  • High School Diploma; 6 years servicing EPSS; preferred: Associate’s degree; 8 years experience.
Master Technician:
  • High School Diploma, Master Certification or equivalent; 8 years advanced troubleshooting EPSS; preferred: Associate’s degree; 10-15 years experience.

Physical Demands: Regular standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted, and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Must wear PPE and comply with safety policies. Frequent computer use, occasional travel.
