Job summary

Southern Company is seeking a Generation OT Network Engineer (BHM or ATL) to design and implement secure OT networks across generation facilities in the Atlanta area. You will configure routing, switching, firewalls, and secure remote access, while supporting SCADA, DCS, historians, and vendor systems.

The role requires 3–5 years in OT network engineering, familiarity with Cisco/IP, Palo Alto firewalls, and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred in engineering or IT field, or equivalent experience.
3–5 years of progressively responsible OT network engineering experience.
Experience with OT/industrial networks, SCADA, DCS, historians, and vendor systems.
Experience with Palo Alto firewalls; DNP3/Modbus/OPC/OPC UA is a plus.

Responsibilities

Design standardized OT network architectures for control systems and vendor integrations.
Engineer routing, switching, segmentation, security, and remote access.
Install, test, and commission switches, routers, firewalls at generation sites.
Support testing, outages, replacements, and project turnover.
Troubleshoot end-to-end network issues across devices and systems.
Document changes, maintain diagrams, and lifecycle plans.
Collaborate with plant personnel, cybersecurity teams, and vendors.
Provide after-hours on-call support as needed.
