Job summary

Dallas Independent School District seeks a Generalist Teacher Assistant for Pre-K to support the classroom and instructional activities. You will help prepare materials, supervise students, and assist with records, attendance, and reporting under the guidance of a licensed teacher.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus an associate degree or 48 college credits or completion of an assessment, and a Texas educational aide certificate.

Qualifications

• Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency); Associate Degree or 48 College credit hours or pass an academic assessment; and Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
• Six months of knowledge and skills acquired through work experience or successful completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants is preferred.
• Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics.
• Demonstrated ability to work with people from various backgrounds.
• Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment.
• Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
• Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment /alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees/campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel.
