Job summary

The University of Vermont Health Network is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to assist the Laboratory Supervisor in maintaining efficient operation by performing clinical tests and handling specimen collection and processing. You will also perform quality control and maintenance, and report/verify results.

You will participate in training and in-service programs to stay current as procedures evolve, with supervision available during the initial period.

Qualifications

• Licensed or eligible as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in NY.
• Limited license must obtain full NY license per guidelines.
• Bachelor’s in Medical Technology (hospital-based internship required) OR
• Bachelor’s in related science with relevant clinical lab experience to meet NYSDOH requirements.
• ASCP, NCA or equivalent certification is highly recommended.
• Graduate of an accredited MLT Program with clinical training/internship may require 6 months supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist Laboratory Supervisor in efficient operation by performing clinical tests.
• Collect and process specimens; perform quality control and maintenance.
• Report and verify results and participate in training and in-service programs to keep competency up to date.
