Job summary

United Hospital District is seeking a 1.0 FTE Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) / Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to perform a broad range of tests across hematology, chemistry, coagulation, microbiology, and blood bank.

As a generalist, you will collect samples, operate analyzers, ensure safety, quality and regulatory compliance, interpret results, report critical values, and collaborate with nursing and provider teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/MLS or an equivalent accredited program.
• MLT diploma or certificate recognized by an accredited program.
• ASCP or equivalent certification required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs waived, moderate and high-complexity tests.
• Maintains knowledge of all laboratory procedures and SOPs.
• Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on analyzers and instruments.
• Interprets results for accuracy and correlation with clinical condition.
• Reports critical values to nurses/providers within required timeframes.
• Performs venipuncture and EKGs, with attention to patient needs.
• Sets priorities for stat and routine testing and manages multiple patients.
• Performs QC and calibrations and communicates discrepancies to management.
