Job description

Position Overview

This role supports Brooklyn Clubhouse members. The Brooklyn Clubhouse is a local community center that provides members with opportunities to build long‑term relationships, leading them to feel supported through employment, education, housing, and more.

Salary

Minimum: $45,000.00 per year. Maximum: $50,000.00 per year.

Scope of the Role

The Generalist provides quality support services, ensuring members receive the necessary degree of support to reach their goals. The Clubhouse has six units—Administrative, Culinary, Employment, Education, Maintenance, and Media & Communications. Generalists manage a caseload and, depending on the unit, may build programming related to the unit’s focus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Engage clubhouse members in kitchen, maintenance, and clerical units, working alongside them to execute tasks.
  • Cook, develop job competencies, and teach computer skills.
  • Facilitate and participate in day‑to‑day activities of an assigned unit on a rotating basis, focusing on consumer empowerment.
  • Provide assistance, training, monitoring, and direction of members’ unit activities and related program activities.
  • Offer programming that models mainstream community life, including celebrating holidays on the actual holiday and providing recreation and leisure opportunities.
  • Accompany members on group outings and social events.
  • Maintain current unit logbooks containing group notes, attendance sheets, and monthly schedules.
  • Assist in facilitating groups as needed on a day‑to‑day basis.
  • Help members develop an individualized plan reflecting their expressed personal and Clubhouse goals.
  • Ensure members receive the necessary support to reach their goals.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and maintain member case records, encouraging and inspiring members to work or attend school/training.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; Associate’s degree required.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a Clubhouse, Case Management, or similar role.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Respect for and comfort working with people experiencing psychiatric crises.
