Job summary

Aramark Facilities Management is hiring a General Utility Worker/Facilities Maintenance Technician to support daily maintenance on the Spring Hill College campus in Mobile, AL. The role includes light repairs, plumbing and electrical tasks, and cleaning of mechanical rooms.

Aramark Facilities Management is hiring a General Utility Worker / Facilities Maintenance Technician to support daily maintenance operations at the beautiful Spring Hill College campus in Mobile, Alabama. In this hands-on role, you will assist with a wide range of maintenance tasks including changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, unclogging toilets, moving furniture, power washing buildings, and supporting skilled trades work. This position is ideal for candidates with maintenance, handyman, custodial, grounds, facilities, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, or general labor experience. The work is physical and takes place both indoors and outdoors across an active college campus. Employees can expect a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime during busy periods such as student move-in, move-out, and graduation events. Job Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repair tasks throughout a college campus facility
• Assist maintenance technicians and skilled trades personnel with daily work assignments
• Change light bulbs, air filters, and other routine building components
• Perform basic plumbing tasks such as unclogging toilets and clearing minor drain issues
• Help with carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and other building maintenance projects as needed
• Power wash building exteriors, walkways, and other campus areas
• Move furniture, equipment, and materials for campus events and operational needs
• Clean and maintain mechanical rooms, maintenance areas, and workspaces
• Use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively
• Identify and report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or equipment issues
• Support campus operations during peak periods including move-in, move-out, and graduation events
• Follow all Aramark safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
• Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with students, staff, faculty, and visitors
• Perform additional facilities, custodial, groundskeeping, or general labor duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• 1+ year of experience in general maintenance, facilities maintenance, handyman work, construction, custodial services, landscaping, or a related field
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, or HVAC systems
• Experience using hand tools and basic power tools safely
• Ability to perform physical work including lifting, bending, climbing, walking, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
• Availability to work Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime as needed
• Ability to follow safety procedures and wear required PPE

Preferred

• Trade school training or certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or related trades
• Previous experience working in facilities management, campus maintenance, commercial buildings, healthcare, hospitality, or institutional environments
• Experience operating maintenance equipment or power washing equipment
