Job summary

Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. in Carthage, TX, is seeking a production worker to monitor and inspect items on a moving conveyor, spread product, and assist with packaging.

You will operate pallet jacks, participate in line clean-up, and follow GMP, SSOP, SOP, HACCP and other safety requirements. OT is often available, and teamwork with the lead is essential.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and reliability; pallet jack certification for some positions is required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and inspect products on a continuously moving conveyor.
• Spread and inspect goods while standing at the line.
• Operate pallet jacks to move pallets to the freezer and packing areas.
• Pack products into boxes and ensure proper labeling and handling.
• Follow safety rules, PPE requirements, and GMP/SSOP/SOP/HACCP guidelines.
• Report issues to the lead/manager and work as a team.
• OT is often available and line sweep/cleaning duties may be required.

Job description

Position Summary

Monitor the production process by spreading, inspecting and packing product.

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Must use both hands
• Will be standing by a continually moving conveyor to spread and inspect goods
• Remove scrap product from both sides of convey or belt and put into inedible barrel
• Product is packed off on a running conveyor into boxes weighing 9 to 35 pounds depending on product
• Boxes are then pushed down a running conveyor from scale, closed and pushed through tape machine and stacked on skids to a height of between 4-6 ft
• Product is then transferred to freezer by use of palletjacks
• Report any issues with product to lead/manager/supervisor
• Work as a team under supervisor of lead
• OT is often available
• When line is down sweep/clean production area
• Follow all safety rules and regulations per established company policies
• Perform all other duties as assigned
• Follows established equipment Lockout/Tagout procedures as required

Employee Safety Responsibilities:

• Report all injuries, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and horseplay
• Use proper lifting techniques
• Use mechanical assistance (handjack, forklift, manlift)
• Use personal assistance (buddy)
• Use handrails
• Use and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

Temperatures throughout plant average 50 degrees. Required to wear hairnet, smock, boots, ear plugs, gloves, plastic sleeves, and aprons provided by the Company. Need to comply with Food Safety: GMP’S, SSOP, SOP, HACCP, SQF, and Quality requirements.

• Continuously required to stand.
• Frequent pushing or pulling up to 1080 pounds (with the use of a palletjack), lifting up to 50 pounds in a distance of 6ft. Carrying 10-50 pounds for a distance up to 10ft, Handling – gross motor and fine motor of the fingers.
• Occasional walking, reaching and working above shoulders, body bending, hand twisting, stooping, climbing stairs, and body twisting/rotating.
• Will be exposed to loud industrial type environments commonly found at plants and working with power equipment.
• Varied temperatures from hot and humid to very cold.
