Job summary

Prime Healthcare's Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible General Surgeon to join a thriving surgical team. The 489-bed, Level II Trauma Center offers a broad range of procedures and a supportive, mission-driven environment.

The role includes participation in trauma rounds, tumor boards, emergency call coverage, and comprehensive benefits with a generous compensation package of $430,000–$450,000 annually, plus relocation, sign-on, and a robust

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in General Surgery.
  • Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
  • Active or eligible for Illinois medical licensure.
  • Strong clinical skills with a commitment to evidence-based practice, patient-centered care, and teamwork.
  • Experience in trauma/surgical critical care is a plus but not required; new graduates and experienced surgeons are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide array of general surgical procedures, including but not limited to hernia repairs, gallbladder surgery, appendectomies, colorectal interventions, breast surgery, endocrine procedures, and basic thoracic/vascular cases.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in tumor boards, trauma rounds, and quality initiatives to optimize patient care and outcomes.
  • Participate in call coverage for emergency and trauma services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards in our integrated EMR system.

Prime Healthcare Illinois Medical Group offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that provides employees the flexibility to tailor benefits according to their individual needs. Our Total Rewards package includes, but is not limited to, paid time off, a 401K retirement plan, medical, dental and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and many more voluntary benefit options. A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits and other forms of compensation, is $430,000-450,000 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
