Job summary

Mercy Hospital in Durango, Colorado seeks a board-certified General Surgery Physician Assistant to join a collaborative team delivering high-value surgical care across the Four Corners region. You will provide preoperative evaluations, assist in surgery, manage postoperative care, and coordinate outpatient follow-up with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; may be accepted if from an accredited PA program and meets licensure requirements
• Physician Assistant certification from NCCPA
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) required
• NRP required for specific hybrid/telemedicine neonatology departments

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive surgical care across the continuum: preoperative evaluations, first assisting, postoperative management, inpatient rounding, and outpatient follow-up
• Conduct patient assessments, order and interpret diagnostic testing, develop individualized treatment plans
• Collaborate with general surgeons, anesthesiologists, hospitalists, nursing teams, and multidisciplinary specialists
• Help expand access to high-quality surgical care within the system and the Four Corners region
