Job summary

Huggins Hospital is seeking a general surgeon to lead and participate in comprehensive care from preoperative assessments through postoperative recovery. The role emphasizes clinical excellence, patient education, and collaboration with perioperative teams.

The successful candidate will have an MD or DO, ABIM residency, and BLS, with NH licensure and board eligibility or certification. On-call duties and ongoing quality initiatives are expected.

Qualifications

• Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
• Three years of experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• Licensed to practice medicine in the State of New Hampshire.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Surgery.
• Degree of MD or DO with ABIM-recognized surgical residency (five years).

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized knowledge for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative management of patients.
• Lead surgical services and coordinate operating room activities.
• Ensure proper patient documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Educate patients and families about procedures, risks, and recovery.
• Coordinate with perioperative teams to assess and mitigate surgical risk.
• Perform a wide range of surgeries and manage postoperative complications.
