Job summary

SEARHC in Sitka, AK seeks a compassionate, full-time General Surgeon to join an established team at Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center.

The role offers outpatient practice across ages with opportunities in Endo/GI, hernia, gallbladder, colon, and appendectomy, alongside an experienced hospitalist network. The compensation package features a $505,000 base salary with productivity bonuses, a sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, and a strong benefits plan including CME allowance and retirement options.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with Alaska medical license or ability to obtain license.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine.
  • Unrestricted DEA.
  • Required: BLS.
  • Three or more years of general surgery experience desired, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Endo/GI, Lap Hernia, Colon, Gallbladder and Appendectomy procedures.
  • Operate in two ORs with a full surgical team and 24/7 hospitalist support.
  • Provide outpatient care for patients of all ages and contribute to serving the Sitka community.

Join SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) - a distinguished non-profit health consortium dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare services to the residents of beautiful Southeast Alaska. We are seeking a compassionate, full‑time General Surgeon to join an established and collegial team at the Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center This position offers a rewarding blend of full-spectrum Family Medicine, caring for patients of all ages in an outpatient setting, with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Compensation salary: $505,000 annual base salary, with additional productivity bonus based on wRVUs, and paid call.

Schedule and Work-Life Balance:
  • Workweek: Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with two days in the O.R. weekly.
  • Call Schedule: 1:4 ratio, equating to 7-10 days monthly.
  • Generous Time Off: 33 days (264 hours) annually, including holidays, and 10 days of CME.
Practice Details:
  • Clinic facilities: Two Operating Rooms with two procedure rooms. One medical assistant per physician, nurse case manager, nurse triage, and 24/7 Hospitalist team. Ancillary services include 24/7 laboratory services, radiology, CT, MRI, and integrated Skryker Equipment.
  • Patient Volume: 12-14 patients per day in clinic and 8-10 patients per day in Operating Room. EMR and tools include Meditech, Dragon Dictation, and DAX AI assisted documentation.
  • Procedure opportunities: Endo/GI, Lap Hernia, Colon, Gallbladder, Appendectomy, with more to offer to the surgeon with interest in Breast, Chest, or Vascular cases.
Qualifications:
  • Three or more years of general surgery experience desired, but not required.
  • MD or DO with active/unrestricted Alaska medical license or ability to obtain license.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine.
  • Unrestricted DEA.
  • Required: BLS.
