Job summary

SEARHC in Alaska seeks an Intermittent Neurologist to deliver outpatient neurological evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment across diverse patient populations in Juneau and Sitka. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to improve access to specialty care in Southeast Alaska.

The role offers an intermittent schedule with 1–2 weeks per month blocks and benefits including retirement, paid time off, and health coverage. EMR tools like Meditech and Dragon Dictation support documentation.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with active/unrestricted Alaska medical license.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Neurology.
  • Unrestricted DEA.
  • Required: BLS.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive neurological services on an outpatient basis to SEARHC patients, including evaluations and ongoing therapy recommendations.
  • Performs inpatient neurology consultations as requested by Mt. Edgecumbe providers.
  • Participates in medical staff functions, including quality assurance.
  • Abides by medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations.

You will work alongside experienced physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and support teams who are committed to delivering high-quality, culturally responsive care to Alaska Native and rural communities.

Compensation & Benefits:

Guaranteed Hourly Rate:

$255.00. SEARHC will pay for roundtrip airfare, lodging, and ground transportation.

Practice Details:
Schedule:

1-2 weeks/monthly blocks available.

Clinic facilities:

One medical assistant per physician, nurse case manager, nurse triage, and 24/7 Hospitalist team. Ancillary services include 24/7 laboratory services, radiology, CT, MRI, and integrated Skryker Equipment.

Patient Volume:

12-14 patients per day in clinic. EMR and tools include Meditech, Dragon Dictation, and DAX AI assisted documentation.

Qualifications:

MD or DO with active/unrestricted Alaska medical license or ability to obtain license.

Board-certified or board-eligible in Neurology.

Unrestricted DEA.

Required: BLS.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

Provides comprehensive neurological services on an outpatient basis to all SEARHC patients, including evaluations, clinical analysis, diagnosis, and ongoing therapy recommendation.

Performs inpatient neurology consultations at the request of Mt. Edgecumbe primary care providers.

Participates in all medical staff functions as requested, to include quality assurance.

Abides by medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations.

Education,
Certifications, and Licenses Required

Medical school degree.

Accredited Neurology residency.

Current Alaska State Medical Physician license.

Basic Life Support certification.

Experience Required

Training through residency as noted under Education.

Knowledge of

Advanced knowledge in allopathic medicine and in the specialty of neurology.

Specialty knowledge in therapies for neurologic disorders.

Skills in

Oral and written communication.

Clinical judgment.

Appropriate and judicious use of tests (e.g., laboratory and imaging tests).

Ability to

Gather information, analyze information, and make advanced clinical determinations.

Work cooperatively with patients.

Work cooperatively with other health professionals.

Work cooperatively with support staff.
