Job summary

U.S. Army 6th Medical Recruiting Battalion is seeking Board-certified General Surgeons to join the Army Medical Corps. You will examine, diagnose, consult, and prescribe treatment, and perform surgeries for Soldiers, retirees and family members as part of a world-class military health care team.

You will engage in ongoing education, trainings, and conferences to advance surgical care and lead in medicine, with potential opportunities in Army Reserve and active duty roles.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited U.S. medical school
• Current license to practice in the United States, DC or Puerto Rico
• Must be eligible for board certification
• Completed at least one year of approved GME internship
• Completed a training program in general surgery
• U.S. citizenship to serve on Active Duty

Responsibilities

• Examine patients and diagnose conditions.
• Consult with patients and prescribe courses of treatment.
• Perform surgical procedures for Soldiers, retirees, and their families.
• Participate in continued education, trainings, seminars and conferences to collaborate with colleagues.

Eligibility Requirements

• Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy

• Foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates

• Must have a current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico

• Must be eligible for board certification

• Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship

• Must have completed a training program in general surgery

• Must be a U.S. citizen to serve on Active Duty

• Must have a permanent U.S. residency for Army Reserve
