The Role We Want You For
In this role, you will manage the organization and direction of project construction activities and oversee total site management, including supervision of client contractors, field engineering, contract administration, cost and schedule, field procurement, and finance and accounting. Your leadership will ensure project operations are compliant, safe, timely, within scope and budget, and clients are satisfied.
This key project leader for Clayco’s Field Operations team will oversee construction of projects valued at $100MM - $500MM or more and will serve as the Construction Manager/Superintendent in the Life Sciences / Pharmaceuticals division.
The Specifics of the Role
- Responsible for the organization and direction of all on-site construction activities and the primary contact for all project field activities.
- Ensure construction operations are in compliance with design, specifications, and that construction is completed on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Manage site activities including subcontractors, field engineering, contract administration, cost and schedule, procurement, finance, and workforce services. Maintain detailed daily reports.
- Develop and execute project plans including automation, environmental compliance, safety, site survey, staffing, subcontracting, labor strategy, and construction execution.
- Implement Clayco’s safety program, security, housekeeping, and fire protection, ensuring adherence to safety codes.
- Ensure the field team is qualified and effective, and establish construction schedules, methods, and resource requirements.
- Monitor project performance, quality, and schedule adherence, and ensure construction meets engineering designs and specifications.
- Ensure policies and procedures are followed and establish site-specific procedures as needed.
- Coordinate with the jobsite team to ensure labor harmony and maintain effective client relationships as the primary contact for field activities.
- Develop and implement security, safety, and community relations plans, and ensure permits and licenses are secured prior to work commencement.
- Participate in contracts and subcontract negotiations, and oversee training programs for personnel development.
- Work with safety teams to develop safety programs, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Support project management in cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement processes.
- Coordinate assignment of Superintendent and Foreman positions, review project schedules, and document issues impacting budget, quality, or schedule.
- Follow QA/QC guidelines and ensure subcontractor requests impacting project scope are documented and addressed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or relevant work experience.
- 20-25 years of relevant experience with progressive responsibility and technical knowledge.
- Knowledge of construction methods, systems, and utilities, including high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage systems, and BIM coordination.
- Experience with utility relocations, underground systems, and managing LOTO procedures and FOD inspections.
- Ability to research local codes and environmental requirements, and experience with data center/mission critical projects.
- OSHA 30 certification required.
- Physical ability to walk the site, climb ladders, and lift objects at least 50 lbs.
